My playoff predictions:
As usual, I'm coming off another whirlwind couple of weeks. First there
were the ESPY's. This was my third year in a row attending, and as
always I had a great time, especially since this year's seats were
awesome. My section was full of past and present playmakers, like Jared
Allen, Adrian Peterson, Tony Gonzalez and Shawne Merriman... It's great
to be around such inspiring players when you're not in competition with
them. Samuel L Jackson was hilarious, too. As a man of style, I had to
make sure my look was on point, so I hit up my tailor, Jack Mass. Check
out my red carpet pics online, and tell me what you think! (When Tim
Tebow goes pro, I'm going to put him on, too. That vest he had on was
too dang small. No disrespect, but I had to say it lol.) Oh, and
another thing about awards shows... gotta love the gifting suites! I
went to the one at the Standard, and they did me right. Shouts to Ian
Grubman and Miami Marketing for always taking care of me. I also talked
to reps from a couple of brands, and I hope they were serious when they
said they'd be interested in working with me. I guess we'll all have to
stay tuned on that topic.
After the awards (and the afterparties) I headed back to DC for a free
football camp my brother, Vontae and I had at our alma mater, Dunbar
High. The day before the camp I did a photo shoot for On Tap Magazine
at The University of Maryland. Don't let anyone tell you it's not the
best college in the DMV... Go Terps!!! The trip down memory lane was
pretty fun. I even got to visit my old locker, and I was pleasantly
surprised to see that they have a plaque dedicated to my 1st team All-American and 1st
team All ACC honors. They included Vontae in the shoot too, which made
it more fun. Oh, the shoot was for the September issue, so make sure
you cop that! We also did a joint interview for Comcast Sportsnet
Washington Post live. We promoted the camp and talked about both our
teams. The funny thing about some people in the media is that they try
so hard to get us to say things we may regret later. It's a good thing
my PR team prepared me for those types of questions.
Now, back to the camp... I love doing stuff like that for the kids, but
working with my little brother makes it even better. I can't wait until
we start our own foundation so that we can get even more involved and
help more kids. We came from where they are now, so I think we're able
to really reach them and set an example. The highlight of the day came
when my little brother Michael stopped by and ran routes with Vontae
and I. We all played against each other, and I think it was more fun
for us than it was for the kids lol (sibling rivalry is no joke). Man,
Michael is more talented than both Vontae and I. I just hope he works
hard and sticks with it so he can join us in the NFL one day.
After the camp, Vontae and I hosted a private mansion event. A few other
players came and partied with us, and we all had a blast. Now, that
it's time for training camp, it's time to buckle down and get ready for
the upcoming season. I think we have a chance to take the west this
year. My new motto is one play, one game at a time. See you after
training camp. I'll try and squeeze in a few tweets on twitter in the
meantime. Make sure you check me out: twitter.com/vernondavis85.
Hey YB, I know it's been a while, but I’ve been doing a lot of traveling over the last couple of weeks.
First, I went to Houston, TX to help my teammate, Moran Norris, with his foundation’s football camp. I had a great time hanging with the kids, and it always feels good to give back. Then I went back home and hosted a rooftop event. It was definitely the place to be that evening.
The next stop was Atlanta, GA. My agent had a two day football camp featuring all his clients (Leonard Pope, Takeo Spikes, etc), and I was one of the participants. I had such a great time there that I decided to stay the weekend to also support Pro Bowler, Marcus McNeil’s, foundation’s weekend. I had a lot of fun in Atlanta, but I definitely made sure I got my workouts in. I added a new boxing program to my routine, and now I do that for an hour and fifteen minutes a day. I think it’ll improve my alertness and ability to make quick decisions on the field.
Then, I went to Youngstown, OH for the 49ers owner’s private dinner, where he gave partial scholarships to underprivileged youth who were going to college. I look forward to doing things like that in the future when I start my own foundation. After that, finally I came back to DC to see my family and one of my best friends, Grandma Davis.
Now that I am back home It's GO TIME. I am working out twice a day with my personal trainer as I eagerly wait for the season to start.
Oh, and the Davis Brothers Bachelor Pad is finally a reality. It’s one of those things that makes us feel like our hard work is really paying off. Growing up with six other kids in a house is fun, but it sure can get crowded. It feels great to have our own space. You know I’m gonna put my art skills to work while decorating, but if you have any ideas, send them on over. Also, look out for the Davis brothers free football camp on July 18 at our alma mater, Dunbar High. I know- “another football camp!” Hey, I do it for the kids.
Omg! How about my under armour ad is the one they featured in the train scene on Pelham 123! Im a movie star yall.
It’s been a little while since I’ve updated you guys, but I’ve been working hard preparing for the upcoming season. I feel really good about it. They’ve been using me more during practice, and I’m very excited. The offensive we’re running this year might be the best I’ve ever played. You guys should look forward to some great things from the 49ers.
I also recently did the Play 60 commercial for the team and for NFL Health and Fitness. I can’t wait to see the final edit on that… You guys should be on the look out for that commercial. I’d love to know what you think. Oh, and I just started my twitter account too. Go to www.twitter.com/vernondavis85 and check me out. Feel free to send me messages there. I’ll respond as often as possible.
One more thing… MAKE SURE YOU GO SEE HANGOVER. That movie was hilarious!!!!
