Playing Philly, On to NYC

On Sunday morning I was so excited not to just be out on the field, but to compete against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mike Martz said that they had one of the best defenses in the NFL, and it made me excited competing with the best. I love to compete with the best. I woke up in the morning, ate breakfast and then I headed to the stadium with the mindset to play the best that I could and help my teammates win. It felt good to catch some passes early in the game. If I get my hands on the ball early, it gives me an extra boost. I just get a lot more energy because I feel that I am in the game. I had the longest catch of my career, but we lost so the game wasn't successful. It is all about the win. I want to catch passes like any other guy in my position, but if you are winning and doing things well like run blocking and pass protection, it is just as good. I came in today, did rehab and iced my shoulder because we have a tough game against the Super Bowl Champs in New York. It will take a lot of hard work to be successful against their defense, but I am confident we will put in a lot of hard work during the week to prepare for the Giants.

Vernon, sorry that I am not a 49'er fan, but I will be this week. I am a Cowboy's fan, so I wish you well against the Giants. We are siting at 4-2, while the Giants are 5-0 and currently losing to the Browns. If the Browns pull the upset and you do the same next week, we could be tied with them after week 7. As you know, we got hit with the injury bug this week, so we need all the help we can help. Go Niners.

That was the best game I've seen you play in your young NFL career. Didn't really like that it came against my Iggles, but hopefully you have a lot more games like that. I've been waitin for you to break out after your days in Murrland!

Welcome VD! Not a 'Niners fan, in fact I am a Cardinals fan so I'm probably not to high on your list. But anyways, your game is sick. I believe you have the potential to be the best TE in the game if you keep playing like you are. I hope you go out and beat the New York "Football" Giants next week.

You are an outstanding talent. I saw you first hand this past weekend vs. the Eagles and you were everything I thought you were coming out of college. Excellent pass blocker and a great route runner/pass catcher. You should be utilized more in the passing game in weeks to come. I think you are a Pro Bowl talent, and will see Hawaii very soon if Martz gets you in the game early and often. Good luck with the Giants!

Glad you avoided the opportunity to blast anyone in a loss that got ugly in the end. Real team players are an understated rarity in the NFL, especially at dependent pass-receiving positions. They'll figure out how to get it to you, J.T. just needs to improve his decision making late in games.

VD, you stepped your game up. I don't doubt your ability, but I was a liitle skpetical when the game started. That 57 yard catch was ridiculous! I thought you were going to take that to the house! You shook those guys so bad! I was proud of you! We need plays like that to win the NFC West! I have been a niner fan since birth (1978) You have the opportunity to be the best TE ever to pay in SF & possibly the NFL. We need you to come up big against NY! Keep doing your thing!

I was at the game and you did everything you could to get a win. Too bad the playcalling was horrible and Martz and Nolan gave that game away.

The media needs to cut VD some slack. This guy obviosly is no TO and has moved past the incident in favor of his team and if the team doesn't accept that then bring him to Minny! We need players like that here.
