Nico Rosberg claims Lewis Hamilton 'making mistakes' which are unacceptable for a seven-time world champion

Lewis Hamilton  has got off to a disastrous start during the ongoing 2024 season. The seven-time world champion failed to produce any impressive results in the first five races. Additionally, Hamilton is heavily outscored by George Russell, their tussle currently stands at 1-4 in favor of the latter. Hence, Nico Rosberg opened up regarding the 39-year-old’s woeful performance since the start of this year.

Nico Rosberg pointed towards the performance difference between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. The results are in favor of Russell and the seven-time world champion still hasn’t openly taken accountability for the performance.

Hamilton’s former teammate didn’t hesitate to claim that he was simply blaming the W15’s setup for his poor performances.

Lewis is currently 1-4 down against Russell, if you look at the results on the track. And every time Hamilton says it is the fault of the set-up. Nico Rosberg said, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Rosberg brutally admitted that Hamilton was making excuses despite making mistakes in terms of performance. The 38-year-old asserted that Hamilton shouldn’t be committing the mistakes that he has made this year.

If things keep panning out the way they are happening, the ongoing campaign could prove to be the second year after 2022 when the former world champion could get outscored by Russell. Hence, this wouldn’t look good for the Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton.

For me, this is an excuse. Clearly he made a mistake. These are mistakes that normally a seven-time world champion should not make. Nico Rosberg noted.

Nico Rosberg claims Lewis Hamilton forms ‘half the team’ despite disappointing performance

Lewis Hamilton’s experience and expertise in F1 are extremely crucial for developing the W15 down the season. Hence, the team would have to listen to the Briton’s ideas regarding the performance improvement for the W15 challenger. Rosberg feels it’s crucial for Mercedes to listen to Hamilton to quickly improve their car.

However, during the current season, the Mercedes team principal might take strict measures against data sharing. Rosberg reckoned that Toto Wolff might disallow Hamilton from looking at the data. This could happen only if the latter’s update doesn’t bring substantial improvement to the chassis. Regardless, James Allison is confident over Brackley’s chances at the Miami GP on the back of the upcoming upgrades.

At the moment, Lewis is half the team. But, at a certain moment, Toto Wolff will tell him that he will no longer be able to look at the team's data. Nico Rosberg concluded.

Mercedes needs to quickly turn around its fortunes to have a chance at the championship. Red Bull’s dominant performance might disallow competition from the rival teams soon enough. The ongoing campaign is already five rounds down and thus, it is high time that Mercedes gets its act together regarding the development of the W15. They are currently in fourth place in the 2024 Constructors Championship.
