Cowboys vs Titans — Over/Under Reactions

The regular season is coming to a close, as the Dallas Cowboys prepare to take on the Tennessee Titans tonight on Thursday Night Football. As we do every week, let’s dive into the over/under reactions headed into tonight’s game.

OVERREACTION

KaVontae Turpin will have his day.

We’ve waited all year long to see KaVontae Turpin bust a kickoff or punt return for a touchdown since the preseason. Turpin has been flirting with housing a return for six points all year long, and this feels like the game where he gets it done.

We haven’t seen too much of Turpin gaining any offensive snaps much this year, and with the playoffs quickly approaching, I expect to see Kellen Moore start to test some things out as far as getting Turpin involved in the offense. Turpin’s speed makes him a versatile weapon that could be a huge weapon in the playoffs. We are starting to see Turpin on the field for the offense a bit more than we did earlier in the season, which leads me to believe that he could be a factor in the offensive scheme more going forward.

Since his two-touchdown game in the preseason against the Los Angeles Chargers, Turpin has been relatively quiet in the return game. Tonight’s game feels like it could be a perfect opportunity for Turpin to make his move that will require opposing teams to be aware of Turpin’s ability to make plays.

UNDERREACTION

The Cowboys will have one of their best rushing games of the season.

The Tennessee Titans’ season comes down to the winner of their week 18 match against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to the Titans’ injury report, Tennessee looks to be resting a majority of their starting players in favor of keeping them healthy for their last game of the season.

The Cowboys still have an opportunity to win the NFC East if they win their last two games, and the Philadelphia Eagles lose their last two. Dallas will have a reason to play their best football tonight, regardless of their playoff spot being clinched last week. Look for the Cowboys to keep things simple and pound their running game against a Titans’ secondary that will be lacking star power.

Even if RB Tony Pollard is inactive for tonight’s game against the Titans, I fully expect the Cowboys to roll the same two-punch running back system with Zeke and RB Malik Davis. With the playoffs being only a few weeks away, I expect the Cowboys to attempt to dominate in the trenches and make Tennessee try to stop the run.
