Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that New York Giants center John Michael Schmitz (lower leg) and safety Jason Pinnock (toe) were held out of the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday.

Daboll said Schmitz was leg-whipped in Sunday's loss against the Los Angeles Rams and is sore. It's too soon to gauge his availability for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Eagles, but his status bears watching. If he can't play, Ben Bredeson would likely move from right guard to center, with Mark Glowinski the likely candidate to step in at right guard.

That would make three changes for the Giants' starting offensive line, including Matt Peart getting the start at right tackle for Tyre Phillips, who was placed on injured reserve (quad) on Tuesday.

Pinnock was injured in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the game and was replaced by Dane Belton, who recorded three takeaways.

As for cornerback Deonte Banks (shoulder), Daboll said that he was hopeful of having the rookie back in the lineup after he missed last week's game against the Rams., adding of Banks's status, "It'll go all the way down to the wire."

Daboll also confirmed that Tyrod Taylor would remain the starting quarterback despite an uneven showing in last week's loss. In response to a question about giving younger players more snaps in the finale, Daboll said the goal is to win games, which would all but suggest that younger players won't get any extra snaps out of the ordinary.
