Over the last few months, Paris Saint-Germain have been linked to Liverpool standout Luis Díaz. While there are conflicting reports regarding the seriousness of PSG’s interest, there’s a concerning stat that should have the Parisians’ attention.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires in 2027, but Liverpool wants to secure him with a new agreement, given the interest he’s generating. Apart from the capital club, FC Barcelona are also reported to be in the mix for the Colombian sensation.
Nonetheless, WhoScored.com published a stat regarding the Premier League’s biggest xG underperformers this season, and Díaz is on the list. According to the stat, the Liverpool star has a -4.15 regarding his xG, but the silver lining could be he’s not the worst underperformer as that belongs to his teammate Darwin Núñez (-6.47).
Ahead of GW36, Darwin Núñez was the Premier League's biggest xG underperformer.

This season in the Premier League, Díaz has made 34 appearances while scoring eight goals and registering five assists. The xG underperformance might be one-off and the player’s goals begin to reflect the xG stat next season, offering a glimmer of hope for his future performance. However, it’s a concern that PSG should have if they pursue the player.
